March 30, 2022

Yesterday, a San Francisco man, Isaac Tuialuuluu, was acquitted of a felony assault charge which the jury later discovered to be an act of self-defense. Issac had spent nearly 8 months past his legal deadline for trial.

The reason behind the delay in Issac going to trial was due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused many cases to be backlogged. Unfortunately, cases being backlogged is currently something that isn’t uncommon. Since January 2022, there were close to 250 people whose trial deadlines had passed.
